Telemedicine

Vantage is working with your providers to offer certain office visits and physician services via telemedicine. We want you stay home and stay healthy, and we encourage telemedicine to improve access and safety for our members and providers.

Telemedicine is the practice of caring for patients by telephone or video chat. This means that you can speak with your provider and receive care from the comfort of your home! If you have an appointment scheduled with your provider, he or she may call you before your appointment to discuss whether telemedicine is right for you. Call your provider’s office if they have not offered a telemedicine visit to find out whether this is an option for you.

The benefits of telemedicine include:

  • Safe and secure appointments
  • Phone calls or video chats from the comfort of your home
  • No transportation time or costs
  • Instant access to specialists
  • Less time spent in the waiting room

Vantage is encouraging contracted providers to utilize telemedicine visits when appropriate. Here are a few examples of the types of telemedicine services that may be available from your providers:

  • Consultation with your provider relating to an unexplained cough, fever, or shortness of breath
  • Routine medical follow-up office visits
  • Most behavioral health visits
  • Consultation with your providers to discuss refills of existing prescriptions
  • Certain physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech language pathology appointments

Speak with your provider to find out if telemedicine is an option for you!
